After a busy first year since Billy Walker took over at the distillery, Glenallachie have released their first batch of UK-exclusive single casks, with this as one of the two oldest bottlings. It’s a 1989-vintage sherry-butt-matured whisky, bottled at 29 years old and a impressive 60.1% ABV cask strength. The cask has add rich fruit and spice, but hasn’t swamped the spirit, allowing citrus and banana notes to push through a sea of chocolate and toffee.
COLOUR: Rich Mahogany.
NOSE: Heather honey and mocha enriched with hints of sweet spices, pears and mint.
TASTE: Dark chocolate, toffee and bananas with sweet spices and hints of orange zestand mocha.
