This is a Spiced Rum from the Matugga Rum range, which was introduced in mid-2015. The rum is made with molasses from sugar canes grown in the rich, red soil of East Africa, and distilled in the UK. It’s combined with a selection of spices resulting in fragrant notes of aromatic tea, lively ginger and a touch of earthy, oak-y warmth.
Nose: A hot, spicy nose with cumin, ginger and cardamom seed. Hints of mead-like sweetness sit underneath.
Palate: Black tea is prominent and joined by a surprising kick of bonfire smoke and mustard seed. Honey once again builds in the background.
Finish: Drying cedar, crunchy brown sugar, smokey tea and black liquorice.
